Drawing Your Own Model Car
You have done what looks like a thousand times. You buy a new model car, opened the box, assemble, paint, and then carried out and on to the next. Yes, it can be useful in its own way the first few times you get a model out with a neat list of directions and pictures to follow. What happens if you decide to do something a little different though? What if you want to design some customization of your own for a new model? The best way to think through the customization you are considering to pull them out. A sketch drawings will allow you to try different looks before you actually begin the process of building the way you do not have to worry about something that does not work and should be cut off or changed after it has been attached to the car model.
What you will need to do this is just a pencil and some paper. The first thing you should do is to sketch a picture of the car as it will look fully assembled. Working from the pictures on the box or in the direction if necessary. This will provide a good foundation to work from. Once you start drawing different ideas for your changes, you must do so under the margin of the paper nearest part of the car to receive the new treatment. This will allow you to begin to visualize what the changes will look like after the car is finished. One thing to remember is that you do not have to just pull one change for each section. Get creative and sketch different ideas for each section you want to change. This will allow you some leeway in your creative process.
You also will want to pull your car model from several different angles or views. This will allow you to see your modifications are intended as they will show up and see exactly how they can best be adapted to the car. Something else to consider is that by adjusting your car such as this paper before you actually start the assembly process will also allow you to experiment with different paint schemes as well. By using colored pencils to add color to make your sketch, you can try different styles such as adding fire or pin striping without having to try it on your model first.
Once you have chosen a different modification that you want to incorporate into your model sketched out the design is completed on a separate piece of paper along with a paint job that you will use. This will allow you to see how the car model will look when finished. One thing to remember is that you should try to pull your car as close to scale as you can afford. If you do not then you want to make the modifications may not be appropriate when you try to add it to the car. Now that you have the concept of modifying the image you want your next step might come to be designing your own model cars. Modeling happy!
